Background
Deep Roots Farm is the only Black woman-owned farm that operates in D.C. every weekend at Dupont Circle and H St farmer's markets. The owner, Farmer Gale, takes a holistic approach to farming that encourages continuous innovation and improvement of environmental, social, and economic measures. Deep Roots Farm grows vegetables, herbs, fruit, flowers, and raises chickens to feed the community.
Purpose
November 2nd there will be a farm to table dinner Caribbean feast and overnight camping experience fundraiser. Proceeds from this event will help transform a historic tobacco barn into a multi-use educational and community space on Deep Roots Farm. Farmer Gale has been passionate about growing food all her life. This space will allow her to teach farming practices to her beloved community.
